Meet Detective Sergeant, Francis Wickham: a no-nonsense investigator with many years on the Devon and Cornwall Police Force under his belt. He has his sights set on a final promotion to Detective Inspector, before drawing down his pension and living the quiet life. Called upon to investigate a disappearance on Bodmin Moor, he sees this as an “open and shut case” that could provide him with the result he needs to impress his superiors. He can almost feel that “second home” abroad becoming a reality. You have to get up pretty early in the morning to catch DS Wickham out, and he doesn’t suffer fools gladly. As a retired Fire-Fighter, Jon gave this role the gravitas that we were looking for, and together with his colleague, DC Jones, he commands the room.
